Adarsh Sahoo, Rutuparna Choudhury and Amrutjay Mohanty grabbed the three singles titles in the All-Odisha Gurukul Junior Tennis Tournament, which concluded at Gurukul Tennis Academy, Mendhasal, near here on Sunday.
Fourth seed Adarsh emerged champion in under-18 boys` category, upsetting top seed Pratyush Chhotray in the title clash that went to the wire. Top seed Rutuparna won the under-18 girls` title without conceding a game against unseeded Ameek Kiran Bath. Top seed Amrutjay claimed the crown in under-12 boys` category, defeating second seed Sangram Kumar Patra in straight sets.
Adarsh missed a double as he and his partner Pratyush conceded the under-18 boys` doubles final against Kumar Anurag Saran and Swastik Satyakam Pradhan due to injury.
Bishnupriya Mohapatra gave away the trophies in the presence of host Gurukul Tennis Academy patron Dr Jyotsnamayee Nayak and chief coach Santosh Kumar Mallik.
RESULTS (all finals):
U-12 boys’ singles: Amrutjay Mohanty bt Sangram Kumar Patra 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
U-18 boys’ singles: Adarsh Sahoo bt Pratyush Chhotray 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.
U-18 girls’ singles: Rutuparna Choudhury bt Ameek Kiran Bath 6-0, 6-0.
U-18 boys’ doubles: Kumar Anurag Saran-Swastik Satyakam Pradhan bt Adarsh Sahoo-Pratyush Chhotaray 2-4, 3-4 (conceded due to injury).
